STORM Brian may have been raging outside, but Basingstoke Buffalo were blown away by a devastating display from Oxford City Stars.

For their second successive match in English National League South Division 2, Stars gave a rampaging performance to score 14 goals, with Darren Elliott, Josh Oliver and Joe Edwards all netting hat tricks.

Following his side’s 14-1 destruction of Invicta Mustangs the previous week, head coach Kenny Redmond might have been mildly disappointed with the 14-2 scoreline in Hampshire!

Stars hit the deck running, when a long Mike Whillock pass fell to the stick of Kamil Kinkor, who finished past Buffalo’s netminder Aaron Croft in the third minute.

Buffalo were were soon back level when Mark Austen beat Stars netminder Milan Ronai.

But within 45 seconds, Stars regained the lead as the impressive Edwards finished off good work by Conor Redmond and Jos Oliver.

Edwards extended the lead after 15 minutes to make it 3-1 at the end of the first period.

Whillock made it 4-1 with a neat back-handed shot in the second period.

After Basingstoke’s Connor Hutchinson and Stars’ Dax Hedges were penalised four minutes for fighting , the visitors added three more goals before the end of the period through Oliver, Redmond and Elliott.

The third period went from bad to worse for the home side with the Stars doubling their tally, despite former Stars netminder Kevin McGurk replacing Craft in the home goal.

Further goals came from Dominic Hopkins, two in a minute from Oliver, Jake Florey, Elliott (2) and Edwards, who rounded off the scoring by skating in from the halfway line.

There was just time for Basingstoke to add a late consolation goal through Oscar Evans, but they know they have to face Stars again this Sunday at Oxpens (6.15)
