OXFORD City Stars get their season under way this weekend – and Sunday’s home clash against Bristol Pitbulls promises to be a noisy affair.
The Oxford Mail will be providing hundreds of ‘clappers’ for ice hockey fans to ensure a lively atmosphere at Oxpens for the 6.15pm start.
Stars director Greig Box Turnbull said: “We chatted about ways to improve the matchday atmosphere and went to the Mail with this idea and they really got behind it and delivered.
“I’m sure it will add to the great buzz at Stars games.”
Jo Coady, Oxford Mail promotions manager, added: “We have a great relationship with the Stars and are delighted to give them our support.
“Hopefully the fans will make a real noise and cheer them on to victory.”
Stars trio Jason Ikin, Joe Edwards and Alex Staples are pictured testing the clappers this week.
