Training last Wednesday saw us make the final touches to our game plan for what was set to be a tough battle against potential title contenders (like ourselves) Streatham Redhawks.

The build-up to Sunday's game for me was making sure I ate right, with light gym sessions to stay loose and visualize plays all day and night.

The Sunday before I spent all day sat with my kit bag by the door and listening to the clock tick.

The wait is horrible but made skating onto the ice in front of all of the fans even more amazing.

We went down 3-0 against Wightlink, which wasn't like we had planned, but showed a lot of character fighting back, although at the end but we fell short.

The Monday morning after that opening loss was tough, to be reunited with the feeling of being hit by a truck after a long summer is never easy.

I wouldn't change it either - you know you've left everything on the ice when you havn't got the power to hit the snooze button in the morning, but decide to listen to Wilson Phillips on repeat for an hour instead.

We addressed all the issues from Sunday's opening loss in time for last weekend.

We worked on our game plan for Saturday away to Bracknell and for our home game on Sunday against Streatham.

We also saw the return of Boris Ruzicka at training (aka Boris the bullet dodger) he is a great asset to the room with his Mr Bean like facial expressions - he is funny in any language.

There is a good feeling in the room about getting our first points this weekend and getting our own back at Streatham for knocking us out of the cup last year.

I am off to prepare in the Costa Del Sol for next weekends matches, a lot of sun, exercise and mocktails are on the agenda. See you on Sunday!
