The last few weeks have been great and the long wait to get back on the ice is over now that summer is coming to an end.

We hockey players enjoy the summer of course, nights out, festivals and any other opportunity to meet up and have a laugh.

Some of the squad even made their way to the Common People festival - but little did we know we would be bump into the club directors there.

As always we attempted to leave a professional impact to calm the nerves of the newly-appointed directors, but it turns out we left the complete opposite impression and still haven't heard the end of it. Little Sammy Arnold really hasn't.

But we’re finally back on the ice and starting to gel as a team.

I have taken our new import Joonas Liimatainen around some of the sights of Oxford, and can assure you that he has come out of his Finnish shell.

He’s only been here a few weeks but is fully embracing Oxford and what a beautiful City it is. Thirsty work but we were not short of drinks stops.

Fitness-wise the whole team have spent a lot of time in the gym, thankfully the board of the Stars had done a deal with our landlords Fusion Leisure, who operate the rink on behalf of the council and have enabled us to use their range of facilities spread across the City.

I even managed to find a spot at Hinksey pool to complete some work in the sun.

The season is now under way and head coach Simon Anderson has put together one hell of a team which I am sure you will all be proud to support.

See you on our journey!
