OXFORD City Stars have signed up Bracknell Hornets defenseman Matt Jordan as they prepare for another season in English National League South Division 1.

The 28-year-old already has well over 200 senior career appearances to his name and has patrolled Bracknell’s defensive line for the last four years.

Jordan said: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge playing for the City Stars. There seems to be a real buzz as a result of an excellent season last year.

“I can’t wait to get going and see if we can push on and have an even better year.”

Stars’ head coach Simon Anderson said: “Matt was someone who I have been aware of for a while.

“He is someone who I have been interested in for a couple of seasons now and to get him here is fantastic.

“He has tremendous experience at this level, which is something that will really help us.”

More good news for Stars is that Josh Florey has agreed a new deal.

Oxford-born Florey was a revelation last year, grabbing 14 goals in what was his best points haul in senior hockey.

The skilful forward declared: “When you have a season like we did last season, you never want it to end, but the break has been a welcome. A chance to recharge.”

Anderson added: “Josh, was one of the first guys I spoke to, once the season was over. I cannot say enough about him, he has been great to have around for the last two seasons I have been here.”
