DESPITE a brave display by goalkeeper Miriam Pritchard, Oxford Hawks Ladies suffered a 2-0 defeat away to leaders Swansea in Investec Conference West on Saturday.

Hawks started well, but gradually allowed Swansea to dominate.

Both goals came in the first half from slick short-corner routines.

Hawks never gave up and some good saves from Pritchard prevented the Welsh side adding to their tally.

With Lucy Stewart in excellent form, Hawks showed more attacking flair after the break, but were unable to create clear-cut chances.

Oxford continued their winning ways with a 3-2 victory away to Oxford Hawks 2nd in South Clubs League Division 2.

Skipper Emily Malden picked out Catherine Reaney, who slammed in Oxford’s first goal.

The visitors then made it 3-0 with two further well-taken scores from Annabelle Denly and a second from the rampant Reaney.

In the second half, Hawks put Oxford under much more pressure, scoring through Jane Lewis and Kara Kerr.

But the visitors finished on top and missed chances to have won by more.
