Oxford Hawks recorded a memorable Women's Conference East double header over the weekend, beating both Maidstone and Ipswich 1-0 at home.

Maidstone kept Hawks at bay during the first half on Saturday, but there was no respite for them after the break as Hawks peppered their goal.

Abi Flory got the breakthrough on 65 minutes from a well-executed short corner.

Irish international Jenna Holmes made a useful debut in goal.

Sunday’s victory over Ipswich moved Hawks up to fourth in the table and within striking distance of the national Premier League.

Beth Warne bagged the winner after 30 minutes and Hawks weathered Ipswich’s pressure in the second half as keeper Holmes and player-of-the-match Clare King shone.

A hat-trick from Rachel Lammey helped Oxford into the quarter-finals of the EHA Trophy with a 4-1 win away to Watton in Norfolk on Sunday.

She struck all three before the break and although Watton reduced the arrears, Becky Hibbert added No 4 to make sure for Oxford.

Oxford went down 2-1 at home to Tulse Hill & Dulwich in South Clubs League Division 2 on Saturday.

The London side were 2-0 up at the break, but with Sophie Shilston and Kim Haynes to the fore, Oxford replied after the break, Shilston converting a cross from Caro Harris.

Vicky Quantrell was player-of-the-match.

Captain Katie Gatt cracked five goals as Witney saw off local rivals Oxford 2nd 6-4 in Division 3A.

The game was dominated by penalty corners, with eight being converted.

Charlotte Manning netted Witney’s only field goal.

Oxford, who led 4-3 at half-time, scored through Sally Whyte, Lyn Cockshott, Mutsa Mutembwe and Helen Backhouse.

Banbury went down 3-1 to Wycombe in Division 2. The home side found themselves 3-0 down, before a sustained period of pressure saw Ali Sturla find the target from a short-corner to make 3-1 at the break.

However, they could not reply again.

Bicester took revenge for one of only two defeats in Trysports Premier 2 this season as they despatched Reading A 3-1 at home.

Ella Weston put them 1-0 up, and two second-half goals from Kath Crook wrapped up the points, before Reading grabbed a consolation.
