Coach Lisa Letchford is making her mark at Wallingford.

Letchford, who represented Britain at the Beijing Olympics, has steered the men’s first team to fifth place in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional Division 1 of the South League and only a few poor results in the lead-up to Christmas kept them out of the top four.

With no team making an early claim for the title, Wallingford look well-placed for a promotion push when the league programme resumes.

The club’s 2nd team are third in Division 4, also handily placed for the second half of the season.

Wallingford’s ladies, promoted to Division 3A of the South League last season, are fifth at the halfway stage.

Also promoted last season, Wallingford 2nd have settled into a mid-table spot in Premier 2 of the Trysports League.

The ladies section are looking to start a fourth team by the end of the season to give opportunities to the teenage players progressing through from the club’s academy.

WEEKEND RESULTS.

Oxford Hawks Falcons 2 (A Fletcher, R Meadows), Amersham 1; Oxford Hawks Senators 3 (M Crowley 3), Chichester 4.
