HOCKEY: Haines at the double for Hawks Ladies

Cita Haines was on the mark with two goals as Oxford Hawks Ladies put last week’s defeat behind them to see off Old Loughtionians 3-0 at Banbury Road North.

Beth Warne netted their other goal on her debut as Hawks notched their first points in Conference East.

Oxford drew 3-3 with Wycombe in South Clubs League Division 2.

Lyn Cockshott put Oxford 2-0 up, both short-corner strikes, but despite some great saves by Phil Swindell, Wycombe replied twice in quick succession to level the score.

Becky Hibbert’s cracking goal sent Oxford in at the break 3-2 up before Wycombe’s breakaway goal in the second half ensured honours finished even.

Banbury got off the mark with a 3-2 win over Harrow thanks to goals from Mel Wilkinson on her return to the club, Kate Murphy and Ruth Tuthill.

Bicester put five goals without reply past a Henley 2nd team that had not previously conceded a goal in Trysports Premier 2.

Ella Weston put the visitors ahead at the interval.

After that, it was one-way traffic as Kath Crook, Sue Wheeler, Weston and Lilla Venning all found the target to send Bicester top of the table.
