CARO Harris scored twice as Oxford Hawks won 4-3 away to Bristol Firebrands in Investec Conference West on Saturday.

It was the Hawks’ fourth win in seven games and lifts them to within four points of the leaders.

In addition to Harris, Hawks’ goals came from Becky Odlin and Katie Lowe.

Oxford fought valiantly but lost 3-1 at home to South Clubs League Division 2 leaders Wimbledon 1A.

After Oxford’s Emily Malden fired just wide, the visitors took the lead in an evenlymatched first half.

Oxford started the second half well and good work from Anabelle Denly set up Kim Haynes to equalise.

An upset was on the cards, but Wimbledon hit back and forced a series of short corners, from which they scored two further goals midway through the half.

Oxford continued to fight and their lively forwards looked dangerous on the break, but they could not break through the resilient Wimbledon defence.
