JACK Biggs scored a hat-trick as Oxford Hawks fought back three times to record an epic 4-3 win at home to Lewes in South League Premier Division 1 on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead after just 72 seconds through a penalty flick, awarded when a drag flick from a penalty corner was stopped by the chest of Hawks’ defender Simon Robinson.

Biggs made it 1-1 at halftime, netting from a short corner.

Lewes regained the lead, with a follow-up shot from a short corner, but Biggs soon made it 2-2 from yet another corner.

With 15 minutes left, the Sussex side went ahead for a third time and the odds looked stacked against Hawks, with Will Murch sent to the sin-bin.

But they again showed their resilience, Kit Cutter deftly lifting the ball over a sliding Lewes keeper to make it 3-3.

With two minutes to go a free hit quickly taken by Hawks found a Lewes foot in the D, and Jack Biggs stepped up to complete his hat-trick and win the game.

In another high-scoring game, Banbury went down 7-4 at home to Old Georgians.

Banbury’s scorers were Simon Boardman, George Brooker, Steve Campbell and Josh Nunneley.
