Oxford Hawks paid the penalty for failing to turn pressure into goals as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to relegation strugglers Milton Keynes in South League Premier 1.

Hawks came out the blocks and won a short corner within the first few minutes and seemed in control.

But the visitors scored against the run of play from their first attack.

Milton Keynes had a clear game plan, get the ball into the D whenever possible – and it paid dividends with a goal in each half completing the surprise scoreline.

Oxford Hawks 2nd retained their lead at the top of Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional 1 with a 5-1 success away to bottom club Marlow 2nd.

Ben Roe scored a brace, with other goals coming from Mark Crowley, Thomson Harris and Ben Wilson.

Oxford are right on Hawks’ heels in second place after romping in 6-0 at home to Old Merchant Taylors.

Dan Smyth and Andy Wynd both struck twice, with their other goals coming from Dan Bleach and Jonny Campbell.

Two first-half goals gave Wallingford a 2-0 victory away to fourth-placed Maidenhead.

Angus Jones shot from the top of the D to put Wallingford ahead.

The visitors continued to press hard and ten minutes before half-time won a short corner through Paul Duncan, and Eddie Allen completed the scoring.

Witney’s struggles in Regional 2 continued when they crashed 6-0 at home to West Hampstead 2nd.

Ben Moss came close to slotting a couple home for Witney, but the well-drilled visitors prevailed easily by scoring on the break.

A hat-trick from Dave Sutcliffe helped Bicester keep their promotion hopes firmly alive as they won 4-2 away to fellow contenders Banbury 2nd in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

Luke Smith scored their other goal.
