OXFORD Hawks recovered from another nightmare start to beat Milton Keynes 6-2 in Premier Division 1 of the South League.

A short-corner strike gave Milton Keynes the lead within two minutes, but it didn’t take long for Hawks to reply, man-of-the-match Steve Kelly lifting the ball over the keeper.

Within five minutes, the visitors had regained the lead from their second short corner, and it took until just before the end of the first half for Hawks to regain parity thanks to Richie Barlow.

Hawks held the upper hand after the interval but struggled to break through until a penalty flick for a deliberate foul was converted by Dave Cresswell.

That gave Hawks confidence and further goals followed from Kelly and Cresswell, before Dom Roche put the icing on the cake with No 6.

A Dan Andrews hat-trick was in vain as Hawks 2nd went down 4-3 to Maidstone in Premier Division 2.

Oxford continued their fine form in Regional 1 by seeing off Staines 4-1.

After a goalless first half, Dan Bleach broke the deadlock from a Callum McKenzie cross.

Staines made it 1-1, but from then on Oxford were in control. Dan Strange bagged a brace and Bleach also notched his second to complete the scoring.

Witney’s struggles in Regional 1 continued as they lost 6-2 at Ashford, Liam Frost and Scott Summers on target. They remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Witney 2nd’s game against Sonning 4th was abandoned after 28 minutes due to a serious head injury to Witney’s Sam Hook, who was hit by the ball on the back of his head.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital, but was reported to have made a speedy recovery. The teams agreed to call an end to the game with the score at 1-1, Dave Vermeulen on target for Witney.

Bicester won 7-3 away to British Airways in Division 1. Luke Smith hit a four-timer, with the others coming from Luke Smith (2), Jonny Reid, Leo Graves and Stu Locke.
