OXFORD Hawks got their South League Premier Division campaign back on course after two defeats with a 3-1 victory at Sutton Valence on Saturday.

Hawks started the stronger, but the home side took a surprise lead which lasted only five minutes before Jack Biggs slotted in a penalty to make it 1-1.

The visitors took control after the break and went ahead when Biggs set up Drew Blackburn, who lifted his effort over the advancing keeper.

Hawks had a few anxious moments before Matthew Wood sealed the three points after a free-flowing counter-attack ended with a tap-in at the far post. Oxford University thrashed basement club Eastbourne 5-1 with goals from Gus Kennedy (2), James Arch, Thomas Chadwick and Duncan Graves.

Oxford continued their unbeaten start to the season in MBBO Regional 1 with a 2-1 win over newly-promoted Maidenhead.

Visitors Maidenhead took the lead from a short corner, but Oxford responded quickly as Tom Small and Will Phillips set up Dan Bleach to score at the far post. A deflected effort from Dan Strange made it 2-1 at the break and both sides went close in the second half, Maidenhead hitting a post and seeing Matt Fisher clear off the line.

Witney recorded their first points of the season as they fought out a 4-4 draw at home to OMT to end a run of four successive defeats.

Dan Andrews, Jacob Deacon, Andy Willamite and Dan Andrews were their marksmen.

Wallingford went down 4-2 at Staines 2nd.

Staines took the lead which they held until half-time, but Wallingford came out strongly after the interval and Ed Allen equalised from a short corner.

Staines regained their advantage before Allen made it 2-2, only for Staines to snatch the points with two breakaway goals.

A Luke Smith treble helped Bicester to a 4-1 triumph over Oxford 3rd in Division 1.

CJ Birtles bagged their other goal, while Callum McCulloch was on target for Oxford.

Oxford 2nd drew 1-1 at Amersham & Chalfont in Regional 2.

The home side took a deserved lead via a lucky deflection, but Ben White bagged the equaliser before the interval.
