OXFORD Hawks took away a point after a 1-1 draw at promoted Lewes, who had defeated Oxford University last week in South League Premier Division 1.

Lewes were well organised and always looking to counter, going ahead via a deflection past goalkeeper Phil Hargraves.

With ten minutes left, Hawks’ pressure was rewarded when Drew Blackburn received the ball with his back to the goal and calmly turned to find the back of the net.

Goals from Gus Kennedy (2), Tom Chadwick and Oliver Sugg gave Oxford University a 4-3 victory at Old Georgians.

Oxford drew 2-2 away to Ashford in Regional 1.

Callum McKenzie gave them the lead, but Ashford wasted no time in equalising and then went 2-1 up.

Dan Bleach pounced on a loose ball to make it 2-2 before the interval and al-though both sides had decent chances in the second half, neither could carve out a winner.

Wallingford suffered a frustrating afternoon as they went down 2-1 to Maidenhead. They had the best of the first half, going ahead through skipper Charlie Chamberlain at the far post, but Maidenhead came back well after the break and scored twice to take the points.

Witney lost 6-4 at Henley, their goals coming from Jacob Deacon (2), Scott Summers and Tim Hardy.

* Witney HC’s inaugural junior tournament at Cokethorpe School on Sunday attracted 42 teams from across Oxfordshire and Cheltenham.
