AFTER a nervous second round, Eddie Pepperell just made the halfway cut in the Italian Open at Brescia.

A level-par 71 saw the Frilford Heath member finish right on the cut-line which came at four-under.

Compared to his first round, when he had five birdies and a single bogey in a 67, the Abingdon golfer struggled to keep up with the low-scoring around him - hovering around the cut-mark all day.

After bogeying the fifth hole, he responded with a birdie at the par-five seventh.

His back nine followed a similar pattern, with a bogey at the 11th being followed by a birdie four at the 13th.

He then parred in to make the final two days.

Despite this, he is still not out of the running on a congested leaderboard, as two low final rounds could earn him a big pay day.
