EDDIE Pepperell safely secured his passage into the weekend of the Rocco Forte Open in Sicily.
The Frilford Heath member carded a two-under-par 69 in the second round to sit on one under for the tournament.
After a mixed one-over-par 72 yesterday, the 27-year-old responded excellently.
He immediately picked up shots at his first two holes, before a bogey at the sixth curtailed his progress.
But Pepperell completed the front-nine in a three-under-par 36 after birdies at the eighth and ninth.
The World No 99 dropped a shot at the tenth, only to respond with a birdie at the par-five 12th.
A bogey at the 16th saw Pepperell card a round of two under, but he is safely above the projected cut of three over.
Julien Guerrier and Lucas Bjerregaard share the lead on nine under.
