EDDIE Pepperell carded a superb seven-under-par 65 in the second round of the Spanish Open - but missed the cut in Madrid.
The Abingdon golfer, playing on the European Tour for the first time since his maiden victory in February, posted a miserable five over par yesterday.
But five birdies and an eagle saw Pepperell climb up the leaderboard to sit on two under.
Pepperell, starting at the tenth, picked up shots at his first and eighth holes.
The Frilford Heath member then birdied the fourth and eagled the par-five fifth to move to level par for the tournament.
Pepperell picked up further shots on his last two holes to finish on seven-under for the day.
But it was not enough as he missed the cut, which was four under, by two shots.
