EDDIE Pepperell has missed the half-way cut after carding a five-over-par 77 in the second round at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The Abingdon professional, who received an invitation to take part, looks set to finish bottom of the leaderboard on nine-over-par.

He already had work to do after a four-over-par 76 in the first round.

Starting at the tenth, the 25-year-old endured an inconsistent first nine holes, with three bogeys and two birdies.

He struggled to make up ground thereafter, dropping shots at his 14th, 15th and 16th holes.

Pepperell looked set for a positive finish when he birdied his penultimate hole, but a double-bogey at the last compounded his misery.
