A DRAMATIC collapse cost Eddie Pepperell the chance to win his first European Tour title.

With four holes to play in the King’s Cup in Thailand, the Frilford Heath golfer shared the lead with Shi-chang Chan of China.

But in those four holes, Pepperell dropped five shots with a double-bogey and three bogeys, slipping to joint sixth after a round of 71 and a seven-under-par total of 273.

The 25-year-old had moved into contention with a sparkling third round of 63, which included an eagle and six birdies.

He had another eagle in his final round and was four-under for the round, before his sudden collapse.

At No 172, he was the third highest world ranked player in the field.
