Eddie Pepperell had a horrendous ten at one hole in the first round of the Spanish Open at El Prat yesterday.

The Abingdon golfer’s nightmare came at the 554-yard seventh hole – his 16th – and spoilt an otherwise good round.

Pepperell managed a three-over par 75 – the same mark as pre-tournament favourite Sergio Garcia – and trails leader Trevor Fisher, of South Africa, by ten.
