Vale of White Horse inflicted a heavy 6-1 defeat on Swindon in the ESFA Under 15 Trophy second round at Milton United.

Sam Earl fired Vale ahead after ten minutes with a 20-yard drive into the bottom corner.

Two minutes later, he supplied the cross for Liam Painter to double their lead.

A defensive error allowed Cameron Gordon to fire home for Swindon, but Conor Ingram raced clear to restore Vale’s two-goal advantage before half time.

Matthew Woodley struck twice early in the second half, flicking home a Painter free-kick before the Swindon keeper allowed his inswinging free-kick to cross the line.

Painter grabbed his second ten minutes from time to complete an emphatic victory, and book a third-round tie at home to Aldershot & Farnborough.

Mid Oxon also progressed with a 2-1 win over Newbury at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground, Thatcham.

Jacob Hughes fired Mid Oxon into the lead after good work by Liam Botcherby.

Mid Oxon defended well with Harry Cornforth outstanding at centre back, ably supported by debutant Connor Peacock, but they couldn’t stop Newbury equalising before the break.

But Mid Oxon regained the lead in the second half when Botcherby crossed for Ryan Heap to head home the winner, and clinch a home tie in the third round against Cheltenham & District.

  • VALE of White Horse Under 14s bounced back from conceding an early goal to beat Southampton 3-1 in their opening friendly at Milton United.

Southampton were ahead after four minutes.

But Jack Alexander equalised before the break with a thunderous shot from 25 yards.

Vale dominated the second half and took the lead when James Wright headed home, before Mason Curtis finished a six-man move to increase their advantage.

They should have a fourth, after being awarded a penalty for handball, but Sam Barder drove his spot-kick against the bar.

  • DANIEL Sefton’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time earned Vale of White Horse Under 11s a 1-1 County League draw at home to Luton.

Sefton smashed his shot inside a post after good work by Jack Buchanan and Nathan Baker to bring Vale level in the clash at Oxford Brookes Westminster Institute of Education.

Will O’Leary had given Luton the lead with fierce ground-hugging shot.
