Jake Steele scored twice as holders Oxford & Cherwell Valley College eased to a 5-1 win at King Alfred’s Community & Sports College, Wantage, in the Oxfordshire Under 19 Cup first round.

Liam Jenkinson’s opener for Oxford was cancelled out before half-time when Nathan Hallam turned Sam Howard’s cross into the net for an own goal.

But Oxford took charge in the second half with Steele’s brace being sandwiched in between a Gareth Hemmings own goal and a Pat Beckford strike.

Oxford are now away to Lord Williams’s, Thame, in round two.
