KAYLEIGH Hines rescued a point for Oxford United with a stoppage-time equaliser in a dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The U’s 100 per cent start to the FA Women’s Super League 2 was ended as they lost top spot.

However, they looked set to come away with nothing, despite some heroics from their goalkeeper Demi Lambourne, before Hines struck to rescue a point.

After the match, Lambourne praised the side.

“We bounced back and showed great character to come away with a point,” she said.

“It shows how far we’ve come along this year and we’ve got a great group of girls who’ve settled in well.

“We believed in how we play and we came out really attacking in the second half.

“Snatching that goal in the last couple of minutes just goes to show the character that we’ve got.”

The visitors made their pressure count after 22 minutes, when Oxford were unable to clear a corner.

Lambourne had no chance of keeping out a superb half-volley from Christie Murray.

The busy U’s keeper then produced a superb save to prevent Kirsty Hanson from doubling Doncaster’s lead.

At the other end, Belles keeper Jules Draycott saved from Ellie Noble.

The visitors continued to impress after half-time, but Oxford pegged their opponents back against the run of play.

Hannah Short released Chloe Chivers, who shot across Draycott into the bottom corner.

Chivers then had a goal disallowed for offside before Doncaster regained the lead with seven minutes left, Rebecca Rayner setting up Murray for an open goal.

This looked certain to clinch the points for the visitors, but Hines had other ideas as, in the third minute of stoppage time, she bent a free-kick into the top corner.
