CONTRACTS for next season are at stake as Oxford United travel to Sheffield in their penultimate game of the season in FA Women’s Super League 2 tomorrow, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

This is the U’s last trip before they finish their campaign at home to Bristol City next weekend.

And manager Les Taylor said he will be watching closely as he makes up his mind on who will be retained for next season.

He said: “With two games to go we’re looking at the squad with an eye on next season.

“Hopefully, the girls take it seriously and want to play for this club.

“These games are important for us and they’re important for them.

“There’s a lot at stake for these girls if they want to be at Oxford United next year.”

Five weeks have passed since United’s 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, their eighth loss in ten games.

And Taylor, who has a full complement of players to choose from this weekend, believes he has passed his desperation to put matters right on to his side.

“We’ve not had any games to look forward to for a long time now,” he said.

“It’s been frustrating for everyone.”

“But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been working them hard.

“Everyone has been really focused and you can tell they’re looking forward to having the chance to prove what they can do.”
