INI Umotong scored twice as Oxford United held FA Women’s Super League 2 leaders Yeovil Town to a 2-2 draw at Abingdon United.

The U’s top-scorer bagged a first-half brace to put the hosts 2-0 ahead.

However, Yeovil reduced the deficit through Hannah Short and Ellie Curson salvaged a draw in the second half.

United took the lead after just three minutes when Umotong raced onto Ella Franklin-Fraiture’s ball forward, poking it past the onrushing Yeovil goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes and into the net.

She almost doubled her tally just three minutes later, but was unable to hit the target.

Umotong went close again after 15 minutes, but was not to be denied midway through the half, twisting past two challenges before firing in off a post.

However, the two-goal advantage lasted just a minute, as the visitors immediately struck back from a corner.

Sarah Wiltshire’s header hit an upright before Short nodded in at the back post.

United responded well, with Holly Pickett seeing her powerful strike tipped over the bar by the keeper’s fingertips.

And the Yeovil stopper was on hand to keep out Georgia Timms just moments later, the substitute striking from edge of the area after brilliantly exchanging passes with Franklin-Fraiture.

The visitors drew level on 57 minutes, when Ellie Curson’s ball from the right caught keeper Hannah Cox off her line and she could only watch it sail over her head into the far corner of the net.

Chelsea loanee Laura Rafferty thought she had given Oxford a dramatic late winner, but her late header was ruled out for offside.

United host Birmingham City tomorrow in the first round of the Continental Cup at Northcourt Road (2pm).
