GRACE Barrett was the hero for Kidlington as they won 6-2 at home to Tower Hill Vixens in the quarter-finals of the Oxford Mail Girls League Under 12 League Cup.

Barrett struck a late equaliser for the hosts to force the game into extra time after goals from Grace Shayler and Jaz Illingworth for the visitors had overturned Natasha Pegyden’s opener.

And after saving her side from defeat in normal time, Barrett helped them win it by completing an impressive hat-trick alongside further goals from Jessie Matthews and Holly Baker.

They will face Oxford City in the semi-final, who won 3-0 at home to Charlbury thanks to goals from Ellie Bradbury, Leanne Elias and Thea Hornblow.

Grove Challengers scraped past hosts Summertown Stars White 2-1 after extra time to claim their place in the semi-final.

Mya Stock put the visitors in front in the first half, but the home side forced the match into extra time thanks to Leschea Guiste’s effort in the dying moments of the game.

Penalties appeared to be on the cards as the match ticked into the final moments of the additional time, but Stock struck again late on to win it for Grove.

Carterton Town went through in the Under 13 League Cup, winning 2-1 at home to Barton United.
