Les Taylor is confident that his Oxford United Women side can upset title hopefuls Everton when they welcome the Merseysiders to Abingdon United's Northcourt Road in FA Women's Super League 2 on Sunday (2pm) writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

The Toffees were among the favourites to secure an immediate return back to the top flight this season, but currently find themselves one place and one point behind Oxford in the table, in sixth.

And after a fine run of form, including back-to-back home wins over Durham and London Bees, Taylor is confident his side can maintain their momentum.

He said: “We're obviously confident after recent results and we're just looking to carry that on as far as possible.

“We have two matches before we break for the summer and I think if we can maintain this momentum over those two matches it will carry us through the break and stand us in good stead for the second half of the season.

“Obviously Everton were a top flight side not long ago and they expect to go back up this season.

“All the matches are difficult at this level, but we expect this one to be more so.”

Defender Laura Nichol is a doubt after sustaining a foot injury during the week, but Taylor otherwise has a full squad to select from.
