SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL: Late strike sinks Vale of White Horse
Vale of White Horse Under 13s were sunk by a late goal in a 2-1 defeat to Southampton in the Meeson Trophy at Milton United.
Southampton took the lead from a penalty, harshly awarded when the ball accidentally struck a defender’s arm.
Vale competed better in the second half against their physically bigger opponents, and equalised with a well-worked goal scored by Sam Clift.
However, a defensive error four minutes from time saw Southampton snatch the winner from close range.
