Vale of White Horse Under 15s suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat after extra time against Slough in the Hobbs Cup semi-final at Milton United.

Leading 2-1 against ten men with five minutes of extra time left, Vale were in the ascendancy.

But Slough equalised and then grabbed a last-minute winner to leave Vale shattered.

Slough had taken the lead after 25 minutes when Andy Francis did well to save the initial shot, but could do nothing about the follow-up effort.

Vale equalised early in the second half, with George Carder`s shot just crossing the line following a corner.

In extra time, Slough’s goalkeeper pulled James Spruyt to the ground as he was about to score.

The keeper was sent off and Tom Carter scored from the resulting penalty, but Vale were unable to grasp their opportunity.

JOSH Dennis scored twice as John Mason (Abingdon) came from behind to lift the Vale of White Horse Under 16 Cup with a 3-1 win over St Birinus (Didcot) in the final at Letcombe FC.

Zac Corderoy fired St Birinus ahead in the second half after a good pass from Lee Davis.

A defensive error allowed Josh Dennis to equalise, and he scored again after splendid work by man-of-the-match Jack Stanley.

Harry Chadwick added a third for John Mason from a Stanley pass.

GOALKEEPER Tommy Rees was the hero as King Alfred’s Academy (Wantage) pipped Wallingford 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out to capture the Vale of White Horse Under 13 Cup at Letcombe FC.

Rees saved Wallingford's third spot-kick after the final finished 0-0 after extra time, while his teammates scored all five of their penalties.

Wallingord had enjoyed more possession with Luke Fanstone and Joe Webber controlling midfield, but Freddie Robson was outstanding in defence for King Alfred’s and Nathan Bishop lively in attack.
