The Oxford Mail Girls League’s first football development event for under 8/9 girls at Wantage Town proved a big success.
The festival was supported by the Oxfordshire FA with teams from Quarry Rovers, Kidlington Youth, Oxford City, Summertown Stars and Wantage Town. The girls played five-a-side matches in a round-robin format, with no results being recorded.
The league and the OFA are keen to continue these festivals, and have set a target of ten teams taking part in events by the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Oxford City fell to a 3-0 defeat against City Belles (Milton Keynes) in the Under 14 League.
Lauren Power, Emily Haismann and Morgan Cooper scored for the visitors.
