Vale of White Horse were left feeling robbed as they bowed out of the ESFA Under 13 PlayStation Inter Association Trophy with a 3-1 defeat by Maidstone in the first round at Aylesford FC.

Owen Armstrong fired Vale ahead in the third minute, and they thought they had doubled their lead ten minutes later when James Pearson headed home only to be controversially flagged offside and Maidstone broke away to equalise.

Maidstone went ahead on the stroke of half-time, and Vale’s fate was sealed when the hosts scored a third three minutes from the final whistle.

Vale take on Southampton in the ESFA Under 15 PlayStation Inter Association Trophy second round at Testwood Sports College, Totton, on Saturday (10.30).
