YOUTH FOOTBALL: Sweet smell of success as North Leigh eye double

A 2-1 victory over Horspath – their A League title rivals – saw the Millers seal the first of two potential trophies.

Horspath drew first blood when Luke McCormack converted an early penalty.

They thought they had doubled their lead, only for the linesman to flag for offside after the ball had been put in the net.

It proved a turning point as Will Fletcher levelled for North Leigh soon after.

Sam Sweet made it 2-1 just before half-time, and neither side made a further breakthrough.

Oxford Blackbirds lifted the Under 14 Cup with a 3-2 success over Banbury United Youth.

Goals from Hayden Massingham, Joshia Cox and Jeffrey Zani sealed victory, with Callum Devine’s double strike proving in vain for Banbury.

In league action, Harwell & Hendred beat Thatcham Town Harriers 4-2 in their A League clash.

Chris Gould (2), Tom Gould and Tyler Parsons were on target for the leaders.

Steffan Allen hit a four-timer as Horspath Youth lifted the Under 13 Knockout Cup following an 8-2 victory over Radley Youth in the final.

Jamie McSporran, Noah Alabi, Naseer el Hosney and Alex Wilde were also on target, with strikes from Jamie Stanbridge and Harry Stanley proving in vain.

Cumnor sealed the Under 12 B Spring League title after a 2-0 success at Garsington Youth. Chris Hickman and Gabriel Rooma were on target.

A brace from Jordan Koroitamana helped Grove Challengers to a 3-1 win over Horspath Youth.

David Gregory also scored for the hosts, with Sultan Dousa on the mark for Horspath.

Harwell & Hendred went top of the A League after a 5-0 home win over previous leaders Oxford City.

Wes Jodo scored his second hat-trick in as many games, with the other goals coming from Harry Fisher and Harry Moreton.

Barton United secu-red their second successive title with a 3-1 victory at home to Littlemore Youth in the Under 11 Spring E League.

Connor Barrett’s hat-trick proved the difference, with Pelumi Maxwell on the mark for Littlemore.
