SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL

OXFORDSHIRE bowed out of the ESFA Girls Under 16 Inter County Trophy with a 5-1 defeat by Dorset in the first knockout round at Chapel Gate, Christchurch.

Kelly Snook opened the scoring for Dorset after five minutes, and Chloe Johns scored twice within as many minutes to put the hosts firmly in control.

Jasmine Hughes added a fourth just before half-time to leave Oxfordshire with a mountain to climb.

Libbie Allison pulled one back with a header ten minutes into the second half, before Oxon goalkeeper Kate Hunter saved a penalty awarded for handball.

However, Johns completed her hat-trick in the last minute to seal Dorset’s victory.

CHENEY (Oxford) snatched a 2-1 victory from the jaws of defeat in a dramatic finish to their ESFA Girls’ Under 15 PlayStation Schools’ Cup sixth-round tie at Nailsea (Bristol).

Nailsea took the lead five minutes from time, but Molly Lygo-Jackson equalised and Jasmine Godfrey grabbed the winner with virtually the last kick of the game.

Cheney are now away to the winners of Fullbrook (Surrey) or Warden Park Academy (West Sussex) in the quarter-finals.
