A BRACE from Ravi Shamsi saw Oxfordshire Under 16s make it two wins out of two in the Midland Counties Youth Football Championship with a 2-1 success at home to West Riding.
After an even opening to the game, Oxon began to get on top at Thame United.
They went ahead in style in the 18th minute, when Oxford City’s Shamsi found the top corner of the net with a terrific strike from 30 yards.
Josh Gibbens had a header well saved before Shamsi doubled the lead with a cheeky chip on 35 minutes.
The visitors pulled one back when Oxfordshire failed to clear a corner, allowing Alex Henney to score.
Shamsi was denied a hat-trick after the break when his shot rattled the crossbar, but it did not prove costly.
Oxon’s next match is in February against Birmingham, who also have a 100 per cent record.
