FOOTBALL: Academy march on after penalty shoot-out glory

OXFORD Academy edged through 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out at home to John Hampden (High Wycombe) in the ESFA Under 16 Premier League Schools’ Cup first round.
The tie finished 1-1 after extra time, with Siyanda Gila giving Oxford a first-half lead, only for John Hampden to equalise before full-time.
Cooper (Bicester) shared the goals around in a 4-1 win at Gosford Hill (Kidlington).
Cavan Scoffin-Thomas, Cameron Hawtin, Ben Crooks and Connor Mellor netted.
Cherwell (Oxford) edged past Grange (Aylesbury) 4-3 on penalties in the ESFA Girls Under 15 PlayStation Schools’ Cup first round.
Ella Burt (2), Grace O’Callaghan and Miriam Pritchard netted for hosts Cherwell as the tie finished 4-4 after extra time.
Burt, Pritchard, O’Callaghan and Lucy Jenner scored for Cherwell in the shoot-out.
Marlborough (Woodstock) eased past St Helen & St Katherine’s (Abingdon) 5-0 in the ESFA Girls Under 13 PlayStation Schools’ Cup first round.
Ella Dawkins and Annie Mundy bagged a brace apiece, with Lucy Mundy also on target for the hosts.

ESFA Under 18 Schools’ Trophy 1st round: Gosford Hill 1, Cokethorpe, Witney 2 (Harrington, Oliver) (aet).

OXFORD City have been drawn at home to Swindon in the ESFA Under 15 Playstation Trophy first round.
Mid Oxfordshire are away to St Albans, while Vale of White Horse have a bye into round two where they will entertain Waltham Forest.
The winners of the Oxford-Swindon tie will be away to North Somerset or Stroud, while Mid Oxon will visit Thurrock or Dacorum if they beat St Albans.
