George Reid’s double set holders Oxfordshire Schools on the way to a 4-0 win over West Midlands in the ESFA Under 16 Inter County Trophy second round at Warwick University Sports Ground.
Despite arriving just ten minutes before kick-off on the 3G pitch due to travel problems, Oxon took the lead midway through the first half when Reid found the top corner with a 20-yard curler.
He added a second from close range after good work by Adriel George, and skipper Scott Gee raced through to make it 3-0 just before half-time.
Kaylem Patterson was on target with goal No 4 early in the second half for Oxfordshire, who now face Merseyside at Milton United in the last 16 on Tuesday, January 15 (6pm).
St Birinus (Didcot) ran out 4-3 winners at home to Slough & Eton in the ESFA Under 15 Schools’ Cup fifth round.
Jack Powell and Joel Thompson netted as St Birinus led 2-1 at half-time, with Jake Lang and Jack Westhead striking to seal victory in an exciting second half.
The Didcot lads are now at home to Edenham High School (Croydon) in the last 32.
