PREMIER Division basement side Blacks Head Bletchingdon pulled off a surprise 4-3 success over second-placed Barton United in the Critchleys UTV League, writes DARYL RIDGLEY.

Jack Morgan struck twice for the hosts alongside goals from Tom Knox and Matty Pearce, while Benji Cuff, Aftab Hafiz and Ben Green gave the scoreline some respectability for Barton.

It was Blacks Head’s first win of the campaign, but was not enough to lift them off the bottom.

AFC Jericho were knocked off top spot by Cowley Marsh Eagles, who maintained their 100 per cent start with a comfortable 4-2 success at home.

Omar Omar, Jodet Ali, Andrew Paintry and Kane Mohammed all netted for Eagles, with Jericho’s consolation efforts coming from Aaron Williams and Marley Joseph.

Aaron Williams fired an impressive four-timer to help Northway to a 7-3 Division 1 win at Sporting Headington Academicals.

Joe Cook scored a brace and Dennis Moore also got on target for the clinical visitors.

Two efforts from Tim Wright and a spectacular long-range strike from Steve Shaw provided some consolation for Headington.

Goalkeeper Johnny Mitchell had to be carried off after picking up a chest injury in Standlake Garage’s 5-2 home defeat to Sutton Wanderers in Division 2.

Standlake were 2-1 up thanks to goals from Sebastian Evans and Sebastian White.

But a collision with an opponent led to Mitchell going off – and his side then shipped a further four goals as they fell to defeat.

Steve Freeman (2), Phil Stringer, Mike James and Chris Stringer were all on target for Wanderers.

Forest Hill made it three consecutive victories with a 2-1 win at home to Village Inn.

A Matt Wigley brace proved the difference between the two sides with Inn’s response coming from David Murphy.

Green Tree Wallingford lead the way after a 6-2 win at home to Checkendon Exiles, who slip to the foot of the table.

Martin Dawson and Chris Swales netted two goals apiece for the hosts with Chris Swales and Max Mohan Triggels also scoring.

Dave Woodley and Tom Binnall replied for Checkendon.

White Horse Abingdon picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw at home to Woodstock Wanderers.

Carl Archer scored twice for the hosts, with Ryan Doran and Nathan Lawes netting for Woodstock.

Bottom of the league Dilly United earned their first point of the season with a surprise 2-2 draw away to league leaders JET FC in Division 3.

Andrew Steer and John James were the heroes for the visitors, with Dan Smith and Jerome Davis netting for JET to ensure the points were shared.

It was a bad day for Great Western Park as they went down 6-2 at home to Watlington Town after having Derek Davis sent off in the first half for foul and abusive language.

The home side’s goals came from Nathan Pavely and Ben Green but it wasn’t enough as Campden Laver, Dan Lynn, Rob Wood, Luke Rowe, George Cottrell and Mike Baker scored for Town.

Goals from Neil Meacham, Robert Andrew and Matthew Hudson helped Kennington Athletic to a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Abba Athletic.

Milton Midgets slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to New Club, goals from Peter Arbuthnott and Paddy Regan ultimately proving not enough as Dan Smith, Willy Shepherd and Dan Cordon fired the visitors to victory.
