Leaders Freeland Yeoman thumped an under-strength Tree Grove 9-1 at home to continue their perfect start to their Crictchleys UTV League Division 1 season.

Tom Gerken led the way with five first-half goals, while Danny Taylor scored a brace to add to strikes from Marc Buckingham and Simon Curry.

Tom Bennett’s strike was scant consolation for the visitors.

Rutherford narrowly edged out Sporting Headington Academicals 1-0 after a comedy of errors led to the decisive goal just five minutes in.

Tim Wright’s wayward ball was tipped on to the bar by his own keeper only to rebound back into the net off defender Matt Cannon for an embarrassing own goal as the hosts slipped to their fourth league defeat of the campaign.

AFC Valley were impressive 2-1 home victors over a strong Railway Wheatley side, a Simon Collett brace proving too much for the visitors to overcome despite a goal from Aaron Lehman.

Blacks Head Bletchingdon went down to a 6-2 home defeat at the hands of Zubry in the Premier Division.

Zubry were too good for their struggling hosts and despite goals from Jack Morgan and Jake Clarke for Blacks Head they were second-best.

Tomasz Samoluuk and Tomasz Szawerdak each netted a brace, while Symon Poltorak was also on target for the visitors.

The home side’s misery was then completed by an own goal, leaving them still searching for their first points of the season.

Northway Res maintained their unbeaten home record with a 9-2 thrashing of Sutton Wanderers in Division 2, thanks to a five-timer from Aaron Williams.

Joe Cook weighed in with a hat-trick, with Sean Herman’s effort completing their tally.

However, it was the away side who had the final say as Chris Stringer scored from the half-way line with the final kick of the game, adding to an earlier effort from Steve Dann.

Checkendon Exiles secured their first point of the season but were denied the win as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Standlake Garage.

Oliver Page was on target for the hosts to cancel out Max Peterson’s effort as the points were shared.

A brace from Ryan Thorne and a goal from Ryan Doran gave Woodstock Wanderers a 3-2 win at Village Inn.

Max Palmer was on target twice for the hosts, but it wasn’t enough as Woodstock took the points home for their fourth successive victory.

Black Swan were 5-2 winners over White Horse Abingdon thanks to a brace from Danny Cox and goals from James Tecker, Craig Davis and Nathan Carter.

Mike Bloomsfield and Mike Ashley’s efforts for the visitors proved to be little more than a consolation.

A man-of-the-match performance from hat-trick hero Jon James earned Jet a 4-2 victory at home to Brightwell in Division 3.

Mark Lockwood was also on target for the hosts, while Harry Turner and Charlie Silkstone netted for Brightwell.

New Club thrashed Kennington Athletic 5-0, thanks to braces from Sammy Graham and Jason Condor and a Jack Clarkson goal, giving the home side their second successive league win.
