BLEWBURY booked their place in the final of the North Berks League’s War Memorial Cup after a 5-2 win at home to Faringdon Town Res, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

In driving snow, the hosts went in front on the half-hour when John Robinson tapped in from close range.

Faringdon levelled through Glen Townsend, only for Jason McCabe to quickly restore Blewbury’s lead.

Faringdon equalised again through James Tranter, but second-half goals from McCabe, Lee Chapman and Arran Gray completed Blewbury’s victory, while Faringdon keeper Nathan Draper was sent off near the end for an off-the-ball incident.

Blewbury will meet fellow Division 2 side Ardington & Lockinge in the final after they beat Letcombe Res 2-1 away with goals from Luke Faircloth and Jamie Gregory.

Tom Eatwell was sent off for Ardington, allowing Letcombe to reduce the arrears through Charlie Knight.

But the visitors held on for victory.

Saxton Rovers beat Westminster 7-0 in the North Berks Cup quarter-final.

Tom Stanley and Oliver Nadin both hit hat-tricks, with Patrick Mannix also on target.

In league action, East Hendred moved four points clear at the top of Division 1 with a 3-1 win against visitors Lambourn Sports.

Liam Eltham, Ty Lee and James Bowsher were on target, with Jonathan Peachey replying.

Berinsfield kept up the pressure with a 5-3 home win over Hanney United thanks to Max Palmer (3), Harvey Moore and Steve Masterson.

Hanney hit back through Andy Hope, Chris Hunt and Jack Jennings.

In Division 3, Marcham hit back from 2-0 down to grab a 2-2 draw against visitors Long Wittenham Res.

Callum Bowler and Callum Green put Wittenham in charge, before Stuart Armstrong and Alex Meakin earned Marcham a point.

Cumnor Minors Under 21s were crowned Division 4 champions after a 3-1 win at Ardington Res.

James Large, Cameron Pomroy and Ben Branton scored Cumnor’s goals, with Dale Cameron replying.

In a goal-fest at Faringdon Town A, the home side ran out 7-5 victors against Berinsfield Res.

Jason Evans was the star of the show with a six-timer, while James Tyler added No 7.

Berinsfield replied through Jon Welch (2), Kai Dixon, Chris Baldwin and Adam Harris.
