OXFORD Brookes advanced to the quarter-finals of the Oxford City FA’s Premier Challenge Cup in a seven-goal thriller away to Thame United Churches.

The visitors fought back from a goal down to lead 2-1 at the break, Andre La Barbara and Matt Bareham responding to Max Bestley’s close-range opener for Thame.

Ben Pearson levelled for the hosts early in the second half.

Brookes soon regained the lead through Matt Fenton, but a Pearson free-kick made it 3-3.

With extra-time looming, Brookes clinched the victory through Fenton’s header.

Masons Arms won 4-0 at home to Chinnor A, all the goals coming in the second half.

The hosts scored through Jordan Veale (2), Jacob Minton and an Ellis Horwood shot, which was deflected into the net by a Chinnor defender.

East Oxford went through to the next round with a 4-2 win at home to Chequers.

The hosts took the lead after five minutes with a solo goal from Marc Grisbrooke.

James Bruce flicked the ball round the keeper for Craig Absolom to make it 2-0.

Chequers fought back to equalise thanks to a Luke Murphy penalty and a Denel Thomas strike.

A pass from Shane Whalley put James Bruce through to slot home for 3-2.

Late in the second half, Bruce fired home from 35 yards to seal it.

ST Birinus retained their Vale of White Horse Schools FA Under 12 five-a-side tournament title at Faringdon when they beat Icknield in the final.

The crown was decided on a golden goal scored by Joe Barough after a 1-1 draw.

Barough also netted for Birinus in normal time, with Tom Gill replying.

In the semi-finals, Birinus beat King Alfred’s Wantage 6-3, while Icknield beat Langtree with an extra-time golden goal after a 3-3 draw.

Birinus will represent the Vale in the Southern area finals at Fareham in the new year.
