A MASS brawl marred Marcham’s progress in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup as they beat fellow North Berks League Division 3 side Lambourn Res 2-0 on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the game erupted on the hour when an altercation between Marcham’s Billy Wilson and Lambourn’s Steve Bartlett resulted in a ten-man melee.

The pair both received their marching orders, before Marcham went in front through Josh Gilsenan.

The lead was doubled when Jamie Salter fired home to secure Marcham’s place in the third round.

Saxton Rovers Res won their second-round tie 3-0 against East Hendred Res as Harry Chadwick, Carl Archer and Ollie Nadin netted.

Other 2nd round results: Sutton Courtenay 4, Faringdon Tn A 2; Hagbourne Utd 3 (D Lovegrove 2, og), Drayton 3 (J Dennis 2, C Bolton) – Drayton won 5-4 on pens; Cholsey Utd 1 (S Hawes), Long Wittenham Res 2 (W Railton, W Vaukins).

Saxton Rovers stormed back to the top of North Berks League Division 1 as they saw off previous leaders Westminster 3-.

Tom Stanley led the way with a brace, while Niall Hodgkins was also on target.

Cameron Lagan hit back for Westminster, but it was not enough.

East Hendred moved up to second with a 5-2 win against basement boys North Oxford.

Pat Howe scored twice, while their tally was boosted by Jason McDowell, Tom Austin and an own goal.

North Oxford replied through Zak Perry and Sadiq Hamis.

Berinsfield edged past Steventon 1-0 to move into third place, Chris Murphy scoring the goal.

Long Wittenham Athleticthumped Stanford in the Vale 5-1 thanks to a brace from Sam Sheppard and further strikes from Sam Borland, Arran Colley and Joe Couchman.

Sid Ashley netted Stanford’s reply.

In Division 2, Compton moved up to second with a 4-1 win over Faringdon Res.

Jack Fisher and Ben Brzoska bagged braces, with Valentin Ivanov replying.

Uffington United claimed their first points with a 4-1 win against Wallingford Town A.

Dalton Harfield hit a hat-trick with Pete Fletcher also on the mark.

Josh Coles hit back for Wallingford.

In Division 4, a Mennan Calvo hat-trick and a brace from Jon Welch was not enough as Berinsfield Res lost a thriller 9-5 against Hanney 66.

John Green hit four goals for Hanney, with Matt Brennan and Tommy Allen both scoring twice.

Steve McKay grabbed Hanney’s other goal.
