STEVE Roberts struck twice as leaders Heyford Athletic beat Cropredy 2-1 at home in the Oxfordshire Senior League.

The visitors struggled to get a foothold in the Premier Division clash and the hosts opened the scoring when Roberts headed home.

Heyford doubled their lead before the break.

With the ball bouncing around the penalty area, Roberts scored with a delightful overhead kick.

Cropredy reduced the deficit when Dan Watkins whipped in a dangerous cross and the ball found its way in via either James Kite or Heyford’s Jack Evans.

The goal spurred on the visitors and they dominated the last ten minutes, but could not find an equaliser.

l LUSITANOS Oxford rea-ched the semi-finals of the Oxford City FA’s County Junior League Cup, with a 6-4 win over St Ebbes Headington.

Marcelo Guilherme (2), Joao Almeida, Adson de Jesus, Daniel Maximiano and Diogo Campos netted for the home side.

St Ebbes’s goals were scored by Stuart Rainey (2), Will Doulby and Angus Taylor.

Thame United Churches advanced to the last four of the Doug Hobbs Memorial Cup when beating Headington Butchers 2-0.

A Nick Barrett penalty and a Chris Mullen free-kick from inside his own half proved the difference.

In the league, Oxford Brookes University drew 1-1 against Masons Arms.

Marcus Warwick scored for Brookes, before Tim Small equalised.
