FREELAND cruised into the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior League’s Presidents Cup, with a resounding 6-0 victory away to Yarnton.
The visitors were 2-0 up at half-time, courtesy of a good finish from Dean Mays in the opening seconds and a smart goal from Danny Taylor.
Freeland continued to dominate in the second half, with further goals from Taylor, Tom McCudden, Adam Bowerman and Tom Parker.
In a Premier Division basement battle, Garsington won 4-0 at Eynsham, while lowly Horspath gained a surprise 5-0 success at home to Marston Saints.
l OXFORD Brookes University edged in 2-1 at home to Chinnor A in the Oxford City FA’s Premier Cup.
Brookes’s goals came from Andy Herbert and Sami Eyles.
In the league, Masons Arms won 4-1 away to Thame United Churches.
The home side went in 2-0 up at half-time, thanks to goals from wide men Ellis Horwood and Jamie Hutchins.
After the break Andrew Lacey replied for Thame, but Masons regained control as both Horwood and Hutchins completed their doubles to see them home.
Summertown AFC drew 2-2 at home to Union Street.
The visitors took the lead when Summertown’s George Tattersalls turned a low cross into his own net The hosts soon levelled when Max Rothwell headed in at the far post.
Street regained the lead through Alex Pratchett before Rothwell set up Dylan Smith to secure the draw.
