MATT Howard scored a first-half double hat-trick as Spartan Rangers emphatically booked their place in the third round of the Oxfordshire John Fathers Junior Shield with an 8-0 humbling of Souldern.

All six of Howard’s goals came in the opening 45 minutes, while Josh Grant and Charlie Waite also found themselves on the scoresheet.

There was a hat-trick each for Joshua Bourton and Harry Ackland in Westminster’s 12-1 thrashing of Thame United Churches.

Jason Hillis scored two and there were also goals for Simon Joyce, Michael Hooton, Dean Staniford and Axel Remoiville.

Aston scraped past Broughton & North Newington 2-1 after extra time, having been minutes away from exiting the competition.

Trailing 1-0, Vince Evans bagged a last-minute equaliser before Matt Smith grabbed the winner.

Daryl Wells scored twice as Corinthians shocked visitors Stonesfield 2-1.

The visitors, two leagues above their hosts in the Witney & District FA, responded through Tim Wyatt but couldn’t avoid the upset.

Jack Wood’s hat-trick helped Hailey through with a 4-0 win at home to Kingsmere United.

Travis O’Connor also found the net.

Union Street fought back from two goals down to win 5-3 at Eynsham SSC.

Despite an early Alex Practchett opener, Street trailed 3-1 with half an hour to play thanks to goals from Nathan Prestige, Ashley Bowerman and John Ayres.

But an Ace Edmunds double and goals from James Cunning and Adam Hall secured a remarkable comeback.

Alan Rodgers and Dan Bishop netted a brace each as FC Hollybush continued their fine form with a 4-1 victory at Wroxton Sports. Chadlington scraped through to the next round with a dramatic 7-6 penalty win over Chesterton, following a 3-3 draw in normal time.

Lee Woodward, Ashley Scearce and Matt Chadwick scored Chadlington’s goals.

Meanwhile, Alex Tompson fired Spartan Rangers Res to their first win since the opening day of the Witney & District FA season.

Tompson’s strike sealed a 1-0 victory over Division 2 leaders Hanborough Res.

FC Mills moved within a point of top spot in Division 4 after a 4-2 win at Milton Res.

Harry Lake and Rob James scored for the hosts, but Jonny Room (2), Ian Parks and Paul Read gave Mills victory.

Stonesfield Res defeated Kingham Res 4-1.

Matt Lewis opened the scoring, but Komon Matthews, Jamie Gardner, Liam Hatton and Connor Labrooke hit back to give Stonesfield the points.
