The race for the North Berks League Division 1 title took another twist as leaders Saxton Rovers went down to a 4-1 defeat at home to fellow challengers Kintbury Rangers, writes Phil Annets.

Rovers had only been beaten twice previously, but were undone by goals from Charlie Allsop, Harry Halls, Carl Self and Gareth Brown.

Gary Hartley netted Saxton’s consolation.

Reigning champions Berinsfield were also dealt a blow as they were beaten 3-2 at Lambourn Sports.

David Murphy bagged a brace for Berinsfield, but it wasn’t enough as Matt Pedder matched it with two of his own and Adam Hogan also scored.

Wallingford Town moved up to second with a 4-0 win at home to East Hendred.

Ashley Searle scored twice in the win alongside goals for Tom Baptie and Jack McLaughlin.

Matt Saunders hit a hat-trick for Long Wittenham Athletic in their 6-1 home win over bottom side Dorchester.

Lewis Monaghan, Steve Molloy and Ryan Scott also scored for the hosts, with Pat Issit hitting the consolation for Dorchester.

Goals from Jon Smith and Tim Holtom were not enough to earn Crowmarsh Gifford victory as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Drayton, thanks to strikes from Ross Tabor and Adam French.

Andy Hope hit a hat-trick for Hanney United as they ran out 4-0 winners at Watlington Town in Division 2. Shaun Harris grabbed the fourth goal.
