Berinsfield needed two late goals to see off bottom side Watlington Town 3-1 and keep their North Berks League Division 1 title aspirations alive, writes PHIL ANNETS.

With the away side’s league status on the line, they hung on until late in the game with a goal from Dave Little.

However, but relegation was eventually confirmed after Berinsfield won courtesy of a Brian Rawlings brace and David Murphy goal.

Searle equalised for the visitors after Charlie Allsop had put Rangers ahead, but they were level for just two minutes as Shaun Thorpe struck the winner for the hosts.

Dorchester ended their campaign with a surprise 2-1 win at Abingdon Town.

Josh Nicholls and George Casserley scored for the visitors, with Adam Waclawek on target for Town.

Liam Eltham, Luke Williams and Jonny James goals gave Ardington & Lockinge a 3-2 away victory over Long Wittenham Athletic.

A Paul Churchouse brace, including one from the penalty spot, helped Harwell Village to a narrow 4-3 home victory over Union Street.

Jake Chaffey and Paul Powell also netted for the hosts, while Matt Golding (2) and James Cunning scored in vain for the visitors.

Grove Rangers were thrashed 7-2 at home to Hungerford Town Swifts, with Gary Fisher netting a hat-trick, Aiden Maycock scoring twice and Richard Woodroffe and Lee Franklin also on the scoresheet.

Dan Cannings and Marc Reid were on the mark for Grove.

Holders Saxton Rovers Res are out of the Nairne Paul Trophy as Division 4 side Ardington & Lockinge secured their place in the final with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Ollie O’Hanlon and Ollie Bailey.
