WALLINGFORD Town held off a late rally from Saxton Rovers to claim their place in the final of the North Berks League’s Charity Shield with a 3-2 victory, writes PHIL ANNETS.

A Sam Larking brace and a goal from Ashley Searle were enough for Town, while George Miles opened the scoring for Saxton and Steve Pitson hit an injury-time second to make for a tense final few moments.

Three second-half goals from Richard Evans and Robbie Harington secured Faringdon Town’s final berth as they beat Division 2 side East Hendred 3-0.

Wallingford and Faringdon will face off in the final on April 25 at Abingdon Town’s Culham Road ground.

In Division 1, a second Max Palmer hat-trick in as many weeks helped to secure an 8-0 victory for Berinsfield over Dorchester with other goals from Mike Hinkin, Chris Murphy, Mark Ingram, David Murphy and Wayne Bell.

Sam Thomas scored the only goal of the game as Long Wittenham Athletic won 1-0 at home to Abingdon Town.

A brace apiece for Danny Lewis and Liam Eltham and one from Jason O’Hanlon helped to secure a 5-0 home win for Ardington & Lockinge over Crowmarsh Gifford.

Division 2’s Saxton Rovers Res suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as they were trounced 14-0 at home to Lambourn Sports.

Sam Conners struck five times, Ben Matthews scored four, Matt Pedder hit a treble and Mark Mooney and Steve Rackham also scored in the win.

Stanford in the Vale maintained their march at the top of the league courtesy of a 1-0 win at Coleshill United.

Brad Gill scored the away side’s winning goal after Coleshill had earlier saved a penalty.

Steventon were beaten 1-0 at home to Burghclere, courtesy of a Tom Smallridge strike.

Goals from Luke Lewis-Rippington, Harry Ackland and James Dallimore gave Westminster a 3-0 win at Faringdon Town Res, while Marcham were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Kintbury Rangers Res.

Matt Hinchcliffe and Tom Fisher both netted twice in Harwell Village’s 6-0 away victory over Division 3’s bottom side, Abingdon Town Res.

Alan Bertram and Jake Chaffey also scored for the visitors.

Two goals from Matt Cramp and one each from Dave Summersbee, Will MacDonald and Joe Courtney gave Grove Rangers a 5-1 home win over Benson Lions.
