A STRIKE from Jamie Rutter secured Ardington & Lockinge a 1-0 win at home in the North Berks Charity Shield semi-final, writes PHIL ANNETS.
Rutter scored in the first half as Ardington saw off their fellow Division 1 side Faringdon Town to clinch a place in the final against Kintbury Rangers at Abingdon Town on April 26.
Kintbury withstood a late fight-back from Division 2 side Wantage Town A to triumph 3-2 in their semi-final.
Two goals from Iggy Ilott and one from Joe Cummuskey gave the hosts a 3-0 half-time lead.
But a second-half brace from Wantage’s Jamie Wilkins double left them hanging on at the end.
- THE North Berks War Memorial Cup final between Division 2 side East Hendred and Westminster, from Division 3, will be played at Wantage Town this Friday (7.30pm).
Meanwhile, the North Berks League Cup final between Division 4 side Faringdon Town A and Wallingford Town Res, from Division 5, is at Milton United this Saturday (7pm).
Wallingford Town moved off the bottom of North Berks League Division 1 with a 3-0 win away to fellow strugglers Crowmarsh Gifford.
Tim Bowler, Ashley Searle and Connor Mattimore scored the Wallingford goals.
Scores from Tim Barton and Lewis Monaghan gave Long Wittenham Athletic a 2-1 home win over Berinsfield, with David Murphy replying for the visitors.
William Wright hit a hat-trick as Radley won 3-0 at home to East Hendred in Division 2.
Saxton Rovers Res and hosts Coleshill United played out a thriller, with the latter running out 5-4 winners.
Dan Hosier, Lloyd Callaghan, Luke Dewar and Ash Brown all scored for Saxton, but doubles for Lee Andrews and Shane Blake, alongside a Lee Mason effort, won the game for the home side.
Westminster lost 3-0 at Kintbury Rangers Res in their Division 3 top-of-the-table battle.
Jake Shearsby, Scott Bowers and Josh Way were all on the scoresheet.
A James Carlini double helped Hanney United stay in touch, contributing to a 6-0 home thrashing of Blewbury.
Paul Freeman, Jack Hemmings, Andrew Hope and Matt Woodside also found the net.
