CUP ROUND-UP

EAST Hendred, from Division 2, pulled off the shock of the third round of the North Berks Charity Shield with a 2-1 win at Division 1 Saxton Rovers, writes Phil Annets.

Rob Andrews scored for Saxton, but Gareth Cooper and Tom Doig won the match for the lower league side.

Josh Nicholls and Joe Dixon bagged the goals for Dorchester as they edged fellow Division 1 outfit Berinsfield by the same 2-1 margin. Chris Murphy netted for Berinsfield in reply.

Faringdon Town won 4-3 at Wallingford Town in the other all Division 1 clash.

Tom Denmead, Richard Evans and Paul Hulme scored for Faringdon alongside an own goal, whilst Wallingford also benefitted from an own goal and netted through an Ashley Searle double.

A James Lee hat-trick ensured Division 1 Crowmarsh Gifford saw off Benson AFC, from Division 4, 5-2 with Jordan Sandiford and Callum Pryce also on the scoresheet. Chris Roberts and an own goal were on target for Benson.

In a North Berks Cup third round tie, Division 2 Drayton won 4-2 at home to Division 3 Hanney United.

Ashley Seamark struck twice for the victors alongside George Brewerton and Kevin Kogel efforts. Sam Bishop and Shaun Harris netted for Hanney.

North Berks League Cup holders Ardington & Lockinge Res continued their defence of the trophy against Radley Res.

Goals from Dave Naylor, Carl Goodenough and Jamie Madge for the Division 5 side left the match level at 3-3 after 90 minutes, but a Jonny Eudell hat-trick and strikes from Adam Hogan, Danny Lewis, Zak Rewcastle and Tom Weeks gave the Division 4 holders a 7-3 quarter final victory after extra time.

Luke Wilkins scored the only goal as Faringdon Town A ran out 1-0 winners at home to Berinsfield Res.

The other all Division 4 clash saw Long Wittenham Athletic Res triumph 3-2 at home to Drayton Res.

Callum Bowler struck twice and Andy Cooper got the other for Wittenham, with Ray Patrick and Adam Froud registering for Drayton.

Wallingford Town Res will be the only representative from Division 5 in the semi-finals after their 3-2 win at Stanford in the Vale Res.

Paul Powell, Alijandro Rodriguez and Elliot Westwood scored their goals to cancel out the two from Nick Lister for the home side.
